I figured out how to put snow falling on my blog!! :-)
I saw some other WordPress blogs with snow on them.
So I had gone looking for what did it. (Fyi, there is a plugin that does snow and such.)
And I was sad when I found out that I could not have snow on my blog. (Plugins are only for wordpress.org sites.)
But then I saw that the time was wrong on my blog. (I haven’t been on here since the time change apparently..)
And at the bottom of that I saw a thing for snow on your blog til January 4th! :-) :-) :-)
(The only reason I saw that was because I was having trouble making the time right.)
But I got snow!! :-)
…I need to go to sleep
It’s been a long time.
A really Really long time….
Anyways, school is over for the semester now and I have a break!!
Not really.. I have to study for the GRE..
You might remember that present my mom got me a few months ago.
Well, the pineapple was all ready to eat! So I tired it…
…and it was sour! It was ripe; the pineapple was yellow and
tasted like pineapple, it was just sour. I still liked it though.
It was nice to eat something I helped to grow.
I also carved pumpkin for Halloween.
It’s a ghost! :-)
I have been doing some crocheting these last few months.
I made some snowflakes.
I made a Christmas present for my Grandma.
Make some glitter ornaments.
I like how they turned out.
And I finally..
Finished the Giant Long Neck Dino!!!
I’m going to be working on a lot more crocheting now since school is over for the semester….
And study for the GRE..
I got this fancy new coat and it needed a studier hanger than the ones I have. So, I asked my mom to bring me some hangers. She brought a few and I chose this one:
But I was afraid it would snag on the fabric. And that would be bad. So, I had an idea. Not entirely my own idea though. My idea was to cover it with some crochet! There are at least two hangers at home like this. I got to work covering my hanger (which is why the giant long neck dino has only part of one leg).
This is the halfway point.
And the finished product!
I used a worsted weight dark blue yarn with a J hook. I’m not sure what brand of yarn it is because I just had some left over. And I started with a chain of five and went around it in a circle like. I single crocheted to the end of the chain and then went and crocheted on the other side of the chain and kept working in a round.
Since I got my new coat, all the other projects went on hold for a little so I could crochet my hanger cover. The giant long neck dino’s body is done though! :-) I was having problems with his head/neck staying up but I put some plastic in him so now his head stays up! :-) And I ended up redoing his body a total of five times. Five! So many. I just hope I don’t have that same problem with his legs..
As for the scarves; I need to do them! It’s good that the TV show House is starting again soon. That’s when I used to crochet last year at school. So hopefully I will be working on more stuff again then! :-)
And school has been super busy.
Time is going by so quickly! It’s already the third week of class. I worked on my Giant Long Neck Dino early last week and this is what I have now.
As you can see, I have gotten farther with his body. But, now his body is going to be too big again! :-( So, I have to rip him apart even more now and redo him yet again. :-O At least if I do redo him again I can work on making him more like I want him to be. Which would be good.
I finished my turtle dishcloth thing!
You can see what pattern and the yarn I used in this post.
I hope I will be able to post at least once a week soon. I think that would be good. But I’m just now getting caught up with my work (thanks three day weekend!) so I hope it will work out.
Here he is:
Isn’t he cute?
I followed this pattern. I, however, did not make the tail.
In other news…
School started this past Monday.. >:-O
That means less crocheting/knitting/crafting time..
So I think I will have to make myself write posts.
But that’s okay because then I will have to crochet more so I can have something to talk about! :-)
Do you remember that last post? Well, guess what.
I bought more scarf yarn.
That’s a good thing. And a bad thing.
It’s good because I can finish the scarf I started the other day and make more scarves (I’m going to make at least one more). It’s bad because I was trying not to buy anymore yarn..
I redid part of my Giant Long Neck Dino. I redid the part I didn’t like. Actually I ended up redoing the part I didn’t like twice. I like it now! :-)
Isn’t he just grand? :-)
Anyways. I started yet another new project!
It is a turtle dishcloth. The pattern is Lisa Earle’s Turtle. Mine is being made from Red Heart Super Saver color Paddy Green and size 8 (5 mm) knitting needles. (I almost typed in ‘crochet hook’..) I am making this because, well, I like turtles. Maybe I will put some pictures up of the other turtles I have.. I do not plan on using this as a dishcloth, but rather in my patchwork blanket. Or maybe a knitted square patchwork blanket where all the squares have a design on them. I think that would be neat.
My hands have still been hurting, but not as much, especially since I have been rolling the golf ball on them every time they start to hurt. That helps a lot. And the other day I found a website that has hand stretches. I think that helped too. If you want to check out the website you can find it here. That takes you to the main page where there is a list of body parts that might need stretching.
I’m going to be honest. When I was doing those stretches for your hands/wrist I felt like a senior. But the stretches helped so I’m not complaining. :-)
I finally started my final (for now, might make some more scarves later) Special Olympics Scarf! Here’s a picture.
This scarf is made of Red Heart Super Saver colors Cherry Red and Soft Navy as the Special Olympics Scarf Project website says. You can see my other scarves for the project here. And it’s being crocheted with a size I/9 (5.5 mm) hook, just like the Giant Long Neck Dino!
I plan on sending my scarves to Georgia since I live in Florida. Yes, because it doesn’t snow here so they are not in need of scarves for the Special Olympics. On a side note, I have never seen snow (well, except for pictures and on the tv, etc.). It was also kind of weird to be crocheting scarves here in the summer.. And it doesn’t get cold here for enough days to need a scarf really. Definitely a hat some days and a jacket; at least for the people with short/thin hair, who ride bikes/skateboards to class, and who think that sixty degrees (Fahrenheit) is cold. (That would be me. I’ve lived here my whole life.)
You may be wondering why the red stripe is bigger than the blue one. Well, I did this because I have more red yarn left over than blue and I really do not want to run out of blue yarn before my scarf is between the required fifty-four and sixty inches long.
You may say I could just buy more yarn. And you’re absolutely right! Especially since this yarn would be for a good cause. But, I have run out of ideas for scarves and really do not want to look for patterns. It has taken me a while to come up with an idea for this scarf! Even when I started crocheting this one I did not really know what I was going to do. I am also trying to use up the yarn I have and not get more. Hence the patchwork blanket.
I would have kept crocheting but my left hand started hurting again so I called it quits for yesterday. I plan on crocheting more on it today.
While writing this post I thought of something. Scarf is kind of a funny word. It sounds funny in my head now when I say/read/write it. Scarf. Scarf. Scarf. Scarf. See how it’s weird yet? When you say it a bunch of times it sounds like you’re trying to eat something fast.. And then scarves. Why can’t you add an ‘s’ to the end of scarf? I mean it does sound kind of weird, scarfs, but the English language is weird.
