Hookin’ Up Project

I am taking part in the Hookin’ Up Project, hosted by Crochet Concupiscence. It is where crochet bloggers review each other’s blogs and lets us see other crochet blogs that we might not have seen. Miss H Soo, from My Hook and Yarn Adventure, reviewed my blog yesterday and had some good things to say, and today I am reviewing Deneen’s blog, Yarn and Musings.

To start things off, I asked Deneen a few questions.

How did you learn how to crochet?

D: I taught myself to crochet about 10 years ago using the book “Crocheting in Plain English”, then I started using the internet and it opened up a new world of forums, etc., all which just enabled me even more.
S: I taught myself how to crochet from a book too!

Do you do any other crafts?

D: I make cold process soap, shea buttah, and do some beading. I own a spinning wheel, several drop spindles, rug punches, and just have to have all the toys, haven’t mastered or played with any of them.

How did you start blogging?

D: I started blogging 12/05/2004 and started because a bunch of us from a forum just started blogging as a way to keep up with our family life, etc. I don’t blog as much any more, FB took away a lot of the fun, as did other circumstances.

Deneen goes on to say that she hopes that Hookin’ Up will help her find some new blogs. Deneen is very accomplished saying having patterns published in Crochet Pattern a Day calendars for four to five years. She also has some patterns for sale at Knitpicks.com. Her most popular pattern is her Bubbles Baby Blanket that has been used for charity. If you want to check out her patterns you can head to her Ravelry page.

Deneen’s blog is well put together. The last two posts she’s had were very helpful book reviews that would help anyone decide if they are going to purchase the books or not. Deneen also designs patterns and has some for sale right from her blog! There’s a post about trying a new pattern or skill that you feel you are not ready to tackle. Deneen’s crochet goal is tapestry crochet and her knitting goal is making socks. Both are very good goals to work towards and her wanting to try new things shows us all that we can try new things as well.

Anything that Deneen writes about she writes well. She goes into detail about what books are about and she goes into detail about what she has crocheted. She also wrote about what she’s learned in the past year as well as what she hopes to learn in the future. There is also a post about what she has learned over the years. Anything she writes about, she thinks out and you can tell that from reading her posts. All in all, anything that Deneen chooses to write is well written and worth reading.
